Founder of Arlington- based Millennium Corporation Honored by White House

Washington, D.C., August 27, 2014— The White House Wednesday honored Kevin Jennings, founder and President/CEO of Arlington-based government professional services firm Millennium Corporation, as a “Champion of Change” for extraordinary work in the area of Veteran Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Jennings was recognized as part of a ceremony and panel discussion held at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on Wednesday, August 27. Mr. Jennings, along with ten other Champions, were honored for their distinguished efforts to create opportunities for veterans and military families through their respective small businesses and non-profits. The work done by this cohort of Champions has contributed to the creation jobs, economic growth, and ultimately, the betterment of their local communities.

The “Champions of Change” awardees were welcomed to the ceremony by Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden. As part of the ceremony, Mr. Jennings was invited to participate in a panel discussion to discuss veteran entrepreneurship and small business challenges. The panel discussion was led by Ms. Barbara Carson, Deputy Associate Administrator at the Small Business Administration. Following the panel discussions, honorees and guests were treated to a panel discussion featuring Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, and Robert Herjavec, from ABC’s Emmy Award-winning TV show Shark Tank.

In response to his recognition at the ceremony, Mr. Jennings said, “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the White House as a 2014 ’Champion of Change’ for Veteran Entrepreneurship. Veterans enrich our society in a multitude of ways—contributing not only to the security and well-being of our nation, but also to our local communities, by bringing a mission-focused approach to all facets of their lives, from supporting clients to founding their very own business and creating new jobs.”

The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.  The “Champions of Change” for Veteran Entrepreneurship are veterans and their families who are doing extraordinary work across the country as leaders in entrepreneurship.  The Champions include veterans who have started a for-profit or non-profit business, veteran spouses who have started their own business, and individuals that support veteran entrepreneurs by providing them with skills, capital, and other necessary resources.
